Church Groups

Volunteers fulfil important and vital roles in the life and ministry of Reading Minster. New volunteers are always welcome and you can find out more about some of our groups below.
Day Time Volunteers

The Minster has always played a key role in the community and none more so than today. Reading Minster, provides a calm and peaceful place of prayer, worship and hospitality within the heart of Reading.

Volunteers are making a huge difference as we are able to be open regularly during the day to offer hospitality to all who visit. It also provides us with the opportunity to explain the history of the Minster and to show them around.

If you are interested in volunteering please email or call contact@readingminster.org.uk or 0118 9571057

Bell Ringers
The tower at Reading Minster contains the heaviest (and also one of the finest) peals of bells in Berkshire. Our bell ringers ring for the Sunday morning Sung Eucharist and for other special services. They meet for a practice on a Tuesday evening.
To find out more about becoming a bell ringer then please email the Tower Captain at bells@readingminster.org.
Servers
A team of Servers assist the clergy at the Sung Eucharist on a Sunday morning and at other special services, often where there are processions and a server will act as a cross bearer at the head of a procession.
To find out more about becoming a server then please email contact@readingminster.org.uk
Choirs
We are fortunate in that we have two choirs at the Minster – Reading Minster Choir (boys and men) and the Mid-Week Choir (mixed voices).
Reading Minster Choir sings at the 11:00 Choral Eucharist on Sundays and for Choral Evensong on some Sundays at 17:00.  Whilst the Mid-Week Choir of mixed voices sings Choral Evensong on alternate Wednesdays at 18.15.
To find out more about either of these choirs please visit our Choirs page or email music@readingminster.org.
